LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Cape Kiwanda Beach Magic

We walked the solitary beach this morning at daybreak.
It was cool and slightly misty.

I was so busy looking at what washed up on the sand,

I almost missed something special:
Do you see the rainbow over my shoulder?
It was awesome!
It was so large, I had to photograph first one end and then the other.
Later, we climbed a huge dune.
I stood for a long time overlooking the vast blue of water and sky, feeling thankful.
At sunset, we're relaxing.
Each day brings incredible beauty and new adventures.
Tomorrow, we travel to Portland.

  2. Oh, Barb, I don't even know where to start!!! Thanks for sharing this ocean goodness! I have a feeling I shall revisit this post a few times! On the panoramas are you stitching 2 images? ( I do not know how to do this.) Also wondering about the tonal ranges in the big square "awesome" shot~ was this the natural effect of the lighting, or edited to increase the range? Magnificent photos of magnificent landscapes!
You stand out in your pink & back against the ocean shore. :) Have fun in Portland- hope you get a chance to go to Powell's City of Books- a book lover's dream!
    :)

  20. Walking the solitary beach at daybreak....what a way to start the day and then to even see a full rainbow! My favorite photo is the view of the rough rugged dune against the bright beautiful sky and water! The bird kite against the pinkish cloud was special too, Barb. I saw 4 young hawks flying over the field together and thought of you!
