LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

City Sights (Sausalito and San Francisco)

We've spent the last several days in Sausalito and San Francisco, traveling back and forth by Ferry.
By turns, it's been windy and foggy or sunny but cool.
We've covered a lot of miles on foot.
Here are some of the sights we've seen:
Sunrise, Angel Island
Wind in Sails, Golden Gate Bridge
Clock Tower, Port of San Francisco
Palace of Fine Art
Lots and Lots and Lots of STAIRS
Twilight from Ferry
Sunset behind Alcatraz
Finally, I must introduce you to a "Friend" who has made it his business to wake me before dawn every morning. I've named him "COOky."
I will not be sorry to leave him behind in Sausalito when we depart for Point Reyes.
Goodbye COOky and good riddance!

  6. I believe it was mark Twain who said something to the effect of "the worse winter I ever sent was a summer in San Francisco." Still, I think it is a lovely area. I really like your pictures.

  10. You have a way of capturing the essential parts of a place. I see so many layers in each photo, especially the one of Palace of Fine Arts. Thanks for sharing your well trained, artistic eye with us.

  11. Wow, clear and sunny! I hope the rest of your vacation is the same.

That is a lot of steps. How often did you climb those?

  12. Bloody birds!

It's the sun that wakes me so early now. I miss sleeping in, even though I know I'll get lots of opportunity come fall.

    Lovely photos.

  13. I was in San Francisco in 1969 at the ripe old age of 18, it is fun to see that it hasn't changed that much. Nice photos.

  15. Hello, Barb!
Thank you for many beautiful photos. I really enjoy them.
The sunrise under the lots of clouds and the reflection on the calm water is beautiful.
Golden Gate bridge and the sailboat reminds me of my trip to Seto bay last spring.
Seto bay was blue and beautiful too, and a small boat was sailing under Seto bridge.
I am recovering from my asthma. The last one week was spent in my bed and very boring time for me!! Now I am happy. I look forward to take a trip with you from now!! Barb.
    Tomoko.

  16. If it was a sweet chirp in the morning, I do not mind.

Nice panoramic view of the bridge and the ocean. How I wish to visit the Palace of Fine Arts someday.

Lots of stairs, yes, alot of stairs we did in today's hike, they reminded me of you.

  18. What a beautiful place to visit. I'm glad that you've finally gotten nice weather. I hope that it's warm and the sun shines on you at Pt Reyes. I didn't love my years living in the Bay Area but Pt. Reyes was an oasis that I loved.

  22. Ah, poor COOky means no harm, although I can imagine his cooing is an aggravation.
Love the first two photos. Hope you're enjoying all the walking and sightseeing.

  23. Barb...too funny about that Cooing pigeon! Better rest awaits, I pray!
That sunset, behind the island, wow!

Glad all is well, you'll have to let mw know when you reach the Portland, Oregon area. I had to cancel horse camping trip- there is a virus outbreak for horses. My stable is in"lockdown"for coming going to populated horsey areas.

  25. I've always thought SF is the prettiest city in America. Used to visit often when I lived in Palo Alto. But I never really liked the cool damp weather.
