The rain in Oregon is great for the wildflowers!
The Columbia River Gorge doesn't mind a few showers.
Waterfalls are glad for a bit more water.

On a cloudy day, we hiked muddy trails to several of them.
Waterfalls have tremendous physical and spiritual power.
For the second time in my life, I walked behind a waterfall. Seeing and hearing the thundering water up close was exhilarating.
Oregon offered us lush, green landscapes - and a lot of moisture.
Waking to more rain the day after our waterfall hike, we made a decision to head home.
We needed a bit of blue sky and some sunshine!
We drove through the rolling hills and farmland of Idaho.
Finally, the sun shone in Utah.
As you can see, the snow is still drifted in our yard. But - no rain and the sky is blue!
We're had great adventures on our travels, but it's always good to be back home.

Glad you got home safe and sound and had fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm still traveling....
I am in love with Oregon!
What a great trip! Those falls are amazingly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! Lucinda is such a lucky rabbit!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheering glimpse into your world. Loved the vistas and the views, the fields with blue lupins and the waterfalls.
ReplyDeleteFab.
I walked behind a waterfall in Watkins's Glen, upstate NY.
I don't see why you Americans ever bother to go abroad. So much beauty.

The waterfall pictures are spectacular. It is nice to get home, but what a great trip it seems you had.
ReplyDeleteGreat trip. Thanks for sharing. Waterfalls are indeed powerful and spiritual.
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories of your trip west. But it truly is wonderful to return home, isn't it?
ReplyDeletei enjoyed this trip out west of yours. oregon is so green and that gorge area is spectacularly scenic.

Sorry you had rain in Portland while we had sunshine in Vancouver that day AND it was 87 degrees here on Saturday and I got a sunburn hiking out to Wintler Park along the Columbia River to view the flood damage to our paved trail there along the river. . . kinda sad. . . Nothing but sunshine again this week!
ReplyDeleteYou should come to WA during July when it is the warmest and hardly ever rains. The 4th of July we have a big all day event at Fort Vancouver. . . think about it for next time you travel northwest.
I did a tour of the waterfalls and Crown Point just last year again and really enjoyed seeing all those waterfalls through your eyes again.
Thanks for the "taste" of snow photo at the end of your journey. I can never have enough of it!
Glad to see you are home safe and sound. That was some tour you took. I enjoyed all the photos and commentary. Were you expecting to come home to snow?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, the waterfalls are beautiful and the second shot is one of my favorites. But they are all wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm now homesick for Oregon and all the beautiful waterfalls! Fantastic captures and what a great trip and memories!! Thanks for sharing the beauty! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Wonderful photos of Oregon and the waterfalls are fantastic. I bet you're happy to be home. Carol
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had such a marvelous trip and thank you for taking us along. Your photos were almost like being there.
ReplyDeleteI'll trade your snow for a themometer that reads 100 every day.
It has been a very wet spring on the west coast. I am getting tired of it. Now that you have gone back home, the forecast is for sun. I sure hope they are right.
ReplyDeleteI love waterfalls - I'd enjoy seeing the ones you so perfectly captured here. I was in Portland for an afternoon about a week ago, but no waterfalls!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. The place with so many waterfalls is a scenic paradise.
ReplyDeleteAll photos are stunning!!Waterfalls are so powerful. waterfalls are said to produce minus ions which help us keep healthy. Viewing the shots of the waterfalls made me feel recharged, refreshed and I released stress.
ReplyDeleteSay hello to Lucinda.
Barb,Have a great week!
I'm glad you're home safe and glad you had fun. It DOES rain in Oregon ;>) ...one of the reasons we began our fulltime-life. We're heading now to the certain blue skies in your home state.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Barb. Love the wildflowers and the waterfalls. Walking behind a waterfall reminds me of a memorable scene from Last of the Mohicans.
ReplyDeleteTo me, getting home is always the best part of any trip.
Hello, Barb!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back home!!!
It is wonderful that you had a long exciting trip. Did you get some souvenirs for Lucinda? She must be so happy that you have come back home.
Thank you for sharing your long wonderful trip and many photos! I really enjoyed the long trip with you.
The waterfalls are beautifully long, powerful and majestic! The snow-white splashing is brilliant! The contrast between the white water and the green leaves is very fresh!!
I posted some waterfalls the other day. It was my first try and very difficult for me to take shots. However it was an exciting time though I needed to practice handling my camera before going to the waterfalls. Thank you Barb and Bob, See you again!
Tomoko.
Indeed, the travel was full of great adventures, Barb, and I enjoyed various scenery while accompanying you. My impression is America is a BIG country with its scale, dynamism, and grand beauty.
ReplyDeleteI like walking through forests or moving from one waterfalls to another. I like it when I’m caught in a splash in summer. Thanks to negative ions, which is decreased in our modern lives, we get refreshed and recharged throughly there. You and redrose made me feel like going somewhere with waterfalls this summer.
Have a nice week at home!
I love the lush green of Oregon - but maybe not quite so much rain. Those waterfall shots are amazing. And snow! - I hope Lucinda kept it shovelled so your welcome home did not involve work.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love the waterfalls and lush green of OR and the Gorge the gray skies and constant moisture does get a bit old. Welcome home to the blue skies of CO. Even with a bit of snow left. So glad Lucinda kept an eye on your place.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful trip, very beautiful pics... You are right the waterfalls have spiritual powers, I have felt them...
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a great time :)
What sights you've seen on your trip!
ReplyDeleteComing home is The Best, though, isn't it?
Walking behind a waterfall must have been fun! I have done it once and got drenched and happy.
ReplyDeletethose waterfalls are just fantastic !....wow !!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. You still have snow? Now I don't feel so bad about living in Northern Alberta:)
ReplyDeleteWow, you still have snow in the high country. Welcome back to Colorado. Your photos are stunning, as always.
ReplyDeletegeesh Barb, It is amazing and also scary how much snow there still is in the higher elevations. I know that SLC is experiencing record snow fall. It may not seem like much but it is over 300% this year and just 2 weeks ago snow fell at the ski resorts that made them open up for some fun in the sun! They are holding onto their hats for some major flooding that has already begun in part of Northern Utah. I am safe here in the most southern tip....well I think I am. I hope I am...it was 98 degrees a couple of days ago. In the 80's today. It is going to be a hot hot hot summer....
ReplyDeleteWelcome home. Great photographs of the waterfalls. I've seen many of them while visiting my brother in Scappoose.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes! Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe long drive was well worth it! Your photos show spring had sprung in the fields of flowers! Most of all, you have mastered your camera and the art of landscape photography!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home Barb!
Barb, your photos are spectacular. The one with wildflowers, incredible, The waterfall with bridge, holy moly. Without the bridge I would have had no idea how huge it is. We saw on the news how there are more waterfalls at Yosemite than ever, because of the snowfall last winter. Great for these visits to our national and state parks.
ReplyDeleteI love Oregon!
WOW, what terrific photos!!
ReplyDeleteOh Barb, Lucinda made me smile...she actually has a look of exasperation in her pose! She must have missed you!
ReplyDeleteOregon has some beautiful scenery...the waterfalls and meadow of flowers, beautiful! Lots of rain too, I gather.
Glad you're home!
Don't you love the Gorge? I made that drive a few times to Portland when I was living in Enterprise & Hermiston. did you walk to the top of Multnomah? Glad you had a nice trip & made it safely home. I'll put my nephew on a plane bound for San Diego tomorrow... we have had a great time, but I am sure he will agree "there's no place like home."
ReplyDelete:) ps, I hear you may be getting some smoke from the AZ fires up in CO... we have been getting LOTS of it here in Santa Fe! Very eerie!
I was reading about that waterfall not very long ago. Beautiful shots! I bet you are glad to be home. Surely the snow will melt quickly and your garden will be blooming soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a grand adventure you had. I hope you're enjoying sleeping in your own bed again and having fun remembering.
ReplyDeleteI love the waterfalls! Great photos of them, Barb! Walking behind one must be quite an experience.
ReplyDeletePlease tell Lucinda that I spotted our rabbit safe and sound in the yard so the bobcat didn't get him.
I see drifts in your yard but I see brown ground too! Spring must be almost there!
I remember the first time I saw the gorge, I was amazed at its beauty. I love that on each side is a different state. Loved seeing your gorgeous flowers. Welcome home to Spring!
