LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Going with the Flow

Back in CO, we're remembering our trip West.
Lake Tahoe, CA
Wherever we traveled, we gravitated toward water.
Ice Plants, Pacific Grove, CA
Vistas were wild and vast.
Dawn Rainbow, Cape Kiwanda, OR
We walked in solitary places.
Fence along Beach, Cape Kiwanda, OR
We found small wonders.
Japanese Garden, Portland, OR
Sometimes the scene was tranquil.
Twilight Skyline of San Francisco, CA, from Ferry
The landscape lulled us.
Tidepools, Yachats, OR
Other times, the tempo increased.
Upper Horsetail Falls, Columbia River Gorge, OR
We were energized.
Yachats, OR
Often, skies were moody.
San Francisco Skyline at Dawn from Sausalito
The drama enthralled us.
Lighthouse at Cape Meares, OR
We let the landscape guide us.
This week, we're flying to the coast of Florida to attend our Nephew's wedding.
Again, we plan to go with the flow.

  2. Your trip west is one worth remembering! Beautiful landscapes! Have a great time in Florida!

  3. I think trips or vacations that go with the flow (ride with the tide yadda yadda yadda) are the very best ones. Far more restorative than touring on a schedule.
    Ick. The very thought...!

  4. It would almost be worth it to pay for your trips just to see your photos. That was "almost" I said.

  5. You collected some beautiful photos and I'm sure the memories are equally special. Have fun in Florida!

  6. Hello,Barb!
Thank you for taking us your trip to the West again! Those many beautiful flows are tranquil and refreshing. They inspire me to go to Akame falls in Japan with my camera again. I will go there in this summer again! That is fine to attend your nephew’s wedding!
Have a great time in Florida! Barb.
    I am fine too!

  7. You seem to definitely be in a wonderful flow right now. These pictures could each be a postcard, or hung and framed - they're that beautiful.

  13. Omgosh, Barb...how you made me sigh to myself, the Lake Tahoe photo is beyond superb!!! Then the Dawn Rainbow photo at Cape Kiwanda made me sigh even louder! I could sit here and sigh all day over your beautiful vacation shots, but I have birds to feed and flowers to plant!

  14. Thank you for sharing highlights of your wonderful trip. Dynamic pictures of ever changing clouds floating and endless water make me feel infinity.I have been to see a lighthouse here too. They seem to have changed a lot and look modern but still play indispensable role.
    Happy going with flow!

  17. I will bet this vacation, with all of its water, and rain will stay in your memory a long time.

All the photos are so pretty, I just can't pick a favorite.

  18. Beautiful water photos Barb. Love the tidal pool, the waterfall and the moody skies. Nice memories for you and hope your family wedding visit is memorable too.

  19. Great photos! I love seeing the water ones since they're so rare around here. It looks like you had a wonderful time enjoying shorelines!

Is the snow melting up there? Our "usual" trip time to Georgia Pass is rapidly approaching but we're realizing that we might have to change our plans given your snow...

  20. Wonderful images, Barb. Even the waves seem peaceful. Of course, I'm drawn to the dogwood framing the falls. A bit of luxury tonight, a motel rather than a campground and wifi.

  21. wow..you are getting around Barb. Wonderful photos as usual. Amazing actually.

Thanks for the visit Barb. Already missing them all.

  22. Gosh, Barb... your photography is simply stunning! Lake Tahoe looks lovely & the water level high. You're really making me miss the ocean & Oregon, too! No, I can't believe you didn't buy anything @ Powells! I can't get out of there without at least one (or 3 ) books! I am resistant to the kindle... I just like the way a book feels in my hands. Have a wonderful time in Florida!

Funny how we keep crossing paths, but just not quite the right timing. Enjoy your trip South! We hope to be back in CO the Fall for a longer time.

  31. From one coast to another, have a great trip!! It's fun to get away and also good to return home when you live where you do. When we lived in Oklahoma I remember never wanting to go home from trips. I don't feel that way living in Telluride.

  33. Hi, Barb, this is a wonderful series of photos related to water, from the tranquility to up-beat to broken big crests. Water flows naturally forward in whatever way they like, creating beautiful forms, playing its own music sometimes in whispers sometimes in roars, and touching people in each manifestation. I like the lovely lighthouse in the last photo.

Are you still bathed in Florida sun? Wish you having a lot of fun.

  35. Beautiful images! As I get older I find that I'm "going with the flow" more often :)

  36. Barb, it was a hard week, but I was energized too, thanks a lot. In your lovely tour, I felt water by two ways - watching and listening to . Gentle sea, rough ocean, waterfall, waves, stream, each of them has each voice.
I was amazed with rainbow in your photo. I still imagine what is there over the rainbow.
    Have a nice day!
