LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Beauty after Rain - Breckenridge

Night rains wet the forest.
Walk with me into the piney dampness of early morning.
Glistening droplets spangle the boughs.
Pale poppies sip the moisture.
Drenched Columbine raise their heads.
Chiming Bells sway gently in the breeze.
Marsh Marigolds get their feet wet.
Water drips a melody onto our heads.
We are cleansed by the nighttime rain.

  2. Aaaaah, sweet, beautiful, nourishing, earth-quenching rain. You have captured it's essence perfectly. I am "home" in San Diego now, relaxing and looking at a big thunder cloud, curious if it will produce any rain for us here. (I'll be happy either way- got to get out & hike without smoke today!)

I am envious of your cool summer!
I could not sleep well with the heat and humidity last night.

  14. Great photos of the flowers but what really got me is the photo of the trail in the woods. I'm really wanting to go find a trail up in the mountains now.

  16. Beautiful as always Barb. We used to wish for night rains (only)..when we lived and gardened in Oregon! All the benefits and none of the drippy days.

But t's perfect weather in OR now -- dry, sunny, no need for heat OR A/C... nice breezes. Life IS good.

  20. I am glad you appreciate the rain -- I am tired of having so much of it this year. I am now enmjoying being without precipitation for a couple weeks now. As always, I enjoy your photo hikes and wish I were there to go along.

I left a message below for your post there. I missed it as I haven't been on computer much because of my allergies causing sight problems now.

  22. Rain enriches and revives nature. These lovely flowers with rain droplets remind me of the relatively cool rainy season. Now that rains is over, we are having scorching and sweltering days. I wish I could escape to your world and meet the blue chiming bells. Have a happy weekend, Barb.
