Summer took awhile to get here!
No skiers ride the lifts.
Instead, horses amble up the trails.
Wildflowers take center stage.
Arnica lend their sunny glow to the forest floor.
Paintbrush add vivid colors to the palette.
Mountain streams dance with snow-melt.
Air smells crisp and juicy.

They're busy grazing on the succulent Fireweed leaves.
We didn't invite them to stay for drinks!

Summer in the Rockies! I just love this post. The best spring wildflowers I ever saw were up above Denver someplace ... in August -- there was still some snow! (Jeep ride with our son).
ReplyDeleteYou really live in Paradise.
It was so nice to see some wild flowers. I haven't been up to the mountains yet this summer.
ReplyDeleteI love the last photo.
OMG! Moose. You lucky lucky gal. And that image, my fav. You rock. Carol
ReplyDeleteI especially love that last photo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place, very much picturesque. The flower beds are lovely.
ReplyDeleteWow, those moose are spectacular. You are so lucky to have such handsome visitors!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see that summertime is finally there! The flowers are beautiful. I really loved the Fairy Slippers in your previous post. They are so delicate - it's almost impossible to believe that they can survive.
Enjoy your summertime. We tried to go up high to Georgia Pass just before 4th of July. Oh my - there was bottomless snow!
Now why wouldn't you invite those grazing visitors in for drinks, Barb? They do appear awfully large.
ReplyDeleteYour wildflowers are looking beautiful, Barb. Wow, what a treat to see the bull moose. They may be a little hard on your garden plants, though.
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo! What a gorgeous view.
the moose is so handsome.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots, Barb. Did you get a new lens? :)
ReplyDeleteBarb, Breathtaking shots!! I felt as if I had breathed in crisp juicy air!! Oh, I was surprised to know how long the face of a moose is! They are huge, magnificent animals, but look gentle. I sometimes long for the life in nature. How nice seeing seasonal mountain plants or flowers, and seeing more stars at night ! I know I can’t have everything.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking me to your lovely tour. Have a great day!
I do love your world and what terrific captures for the day! Beautiful flowers, skies and mountains and, of course the moose! Such a handsome fellow indeed! Hope your week is going well!!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
And what a totally amazing summer you now have bursting with color. Plus HUGE Handsome wildlife visitors. Wow!
ReplyDeleteWonderful images! The wildflowers are amazing, and the lighting of some of these photos give a nice glow!
ReplyDeleteSweet hgus,
Sierra Rose
Time is fleeting. I’ve loved your photos, especially of wild flowers and of the nature surrounding you , accompanied by your words since last summer when record heat wave hit Japan. How I enjoyed cool and crisp air wafting from your blog! This year we’re having a long summer as the rainy season ended much earlier.
ReplyDeleteI’ll be scared to see such large bull moose if I see them nearby. When there are foods, wild animals come. Your place looks paradise both for wildlife and humans. Harmonious lives are protected from human side. Be safe and enjoy that nature... many of us don’t have such a luxury. Thank you for sharing your beautiful world as always. Happy days ahead.
Yoko
Those are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the moose, I thought, "omigoshomigoshomigosh!" As accustomed as I am to whitetail wandering around here, and lately, black bears . . . a moose would send me right over the edge!
what a wonderful world
ReplyDeletebeautiful! i love moose- they are my absolute favorites and what great shots. the wildflowers are lovely too. funny how many we have that are the same. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wildflowers and countryside. And gorgeous moose! I'm originally from Newfoundland in Canada, so I'm used to seeing moose. (And PS - They're delicious as well!)
ReplyDeleteThose yellow wildflowers everywhere were beautiful!! Burro trail looks very inviting, I'd love to be able to walk it!
ReplyDeleteBarb it is not yet 8:00a.m. here and it's 100 degrees with the heat index! I hope you don't get that extreme heat there! Love Di ♥
I love moose, I love The Rockies and your wonderful wildflowers and don't mind the snow on the peaks at all. It is all my kinda country.
ReplyDeleteOne of the seminal moments of my life was meeting a moose on a trail. Are these in your yard? How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAll the photos are fabulous, as always. The final one is out of this world.
I agree that the dawn photo is spectacular. Imagine the thrill of seeing those noble creatures in your own yard! I so enjoy your blog, Barb.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty where you live is so intense I am pretty sure I would never get a thing done.
ReplyDeleteThe view from your house is just awesome and those grazing lawn ornaments a joy to watch.

Gorgeous shots! Summer looks fabulous where you are.
ReplyDeleteBarb,
ReplyDeleteyour moose are adorable! do they often come to your place? i would imagine they can territorial, even though they are on your property. I was supposed to be on my way to Yosemite today, though it seems I have come down w/ an awful flu instead... hoping I can still go next week. I hear they have quite a bit of snow in the high country as well.
Fantastic photos!
ReplyDeleteAmazing snow in the summer.
ReplyDeleteI love pictures of paths and trails. They make me want to walk.
ReplyDeleteAll your pictures are once again beautiful.
I will have to admit that your moose are much sleeker than ours! And, maybe even larger.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting all the flowers. I can hardlly wait to see all of the western flowers that my friends have been showing me.
We had a hot day, but cool air is coming in now. The sky is clear and bright, after two hazy days.
Dawn and Moose and wildflowers....
ReplyDeletethis post has everything I need for a perfect July day.
Gorgeous.....
Sherry
What wonderful wild flowers. Not sure I would like to have moose visiting that close - but it's great to see them through your photographs!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics.
ReplyDeleteThat trail next to the creek is calling my name!
Welcome to your summer! My! That moose is supersized! And the paintbrush, gorgeous -- but that photo of Peak 9 of Ten Mile Range -- that's your view? Oh, how glorious~
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Barb!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely vistas surround you!
Whenever I see photos of summertime in places that have warm sunshine below and snow above, I think of my mother.
She dreamed of going west one day.
I smile when I read the names of flowers {thank you for sharing that with us :o)
Can you imagine the moment when each flower was named for the first time? Paintbrush, Arnica, Fairy Slipper, Chiming Bells ♥ I love those names!
The last photo, the view from your home is breathtaking. What a magical place it is!
I'm glad you are having a sweet summer so far ~ enjoy all the precious moments!
