Fall is a brief but spectacular season in Summit County, CO.
Aspens glow against the blue Colorado sky.
Bright hips ornament the wild roses.
Grasses in shades of sienna sway in the breeze.
As aspens quake, gold flutters down.
Fall is the bridge between summer and winter.
Waldo smiles in approval.

Barb these are all such gorgeous photos. You really live in a place of peace and beauty. I love the grass and of course the wild rose hip :) one of my favs to take photos of and I do have stop my self. Love the bridge also.
ReplyDeleteSo much beauty though your lens.
Have a wonderful night
Oh this last one is stunning. They all are.
ReplyDeleteI envy your backyard! The golden leaves are sought after by photographers!
ReplyDeleteI concur with Waldo!
The aspen were just starting to turn when we left the cabin last week. I suspect that when we go back in 10 days to close for the winter, many aspen will have already lost their leaves.
ReplyDeleteWhere did the summer go?
What wonderful bursts of colour!! It's always such a pleasure to see Fall images and yours are truly spectacular!! I love your descriptions!
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb! I wonder which is the shortest at your mountains, spring, summer, or autumn? Autumn foliage is fabulous, but there’s something lonely in them, the sense of transience and upcoming onslaught of the winter. Waldo looks happy wearing gold-yellow wreath and also how happy to be blessed with purple sky at the end of the day. I‘ve enjoyed walking through the shades of yellow under the blue skies listening to your words, Barb.
ReplyDeleteIn my part of the world, I’m enjoying the gradual cooling and the changing colors. Autumn makes up for the heat of summer.
Have a nice week.
Yoko
glorious colors. i can't wait for our fall colors to arrive.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos, and envy you the blue sky!
ReplyDeletespectacular indeed!
ReplyDeleteWow - the season is fairly advanced at altitude. Thanks for sharing the beauty with us. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots.

Fall is truly all aglow in your back yard. Just starting to see the glow here.
ReplyDeleteYour backyard is too good. Wonderful images.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Fall in Colorado -- we have been there at this time of year and it is truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteI posted pictures of some rose hips today too -- we have those, but not the wonderful golden aspens.
Fall is my favorite time of year because it seems to unveil the mystery of life around us. As the leaves drop and change into beautiful hues there is hope that the tired and worn will be renewed. :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you have that spicy, nutty fall scent in the air.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this one of the best times of year. I loved the grass, lake and mountains. What marvelous views you have.
ReplyDeleteWe are just starting to change here.
Barb, beautiful fall color. Glad Waldo approves! :D
ReplyDeleteI am a sea-level kind of person myself, but I do love the glimpses of mountain autumn you have have shared here.
ReplyDeleteNice nature pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
Wow, so different from our red hued fall, but just as beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWaldo looks good in yellow.
Our nights are only down to the 50's, and the only frost warnings are in the mountains.
You live in a beautiful place, and those Aspens are gorgeous, the leaves look like gold coins.
ReplyDeleteI like Waldo, he looks happy.
I love fall here in Colorado, but since I'm on call this weekend (I'm a software engineer) I won't be able to get out and see it at its peak. But I'm enjoying your photos a lot!
ReplyDeleteOur leaves have definitely started to change here in the Colorado Springs area, but of course since we've got such a variation in altitude it's variable. I was in Pueblo last weekend and it was like summer, but higher up on the Peak I'm sure there's lots of yellow. I've even seen some yellow in town.
I hope someday to see the Colorado Rockies when the Aspens are bright yellow. Great photographs of them.
ReplyDeleteAutomn is one of my prefered season and your pictures confirm my opinion! Here south of France the first yellow and red colors appear since a few days! In the last pictures trees are majestic!
ReplyDeleteSo peaceful looking Barb. I could just stare at your world forever!
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
The scene in your third photo is sensational.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place of your world in our world !
ReplyDeletethe little stream is quite wonderful.Great shots of it. :)
ReplyDelete. . . and a great season to celebrate it is! Wonderful photos of your glorious clear air that defines everything to perfection. If such beauty were not so transient, we may take it for granted, as it is, we really appreciate this most beautiful of seasons.
ReplyDeleteBarb,
ReplyDeleteYou are enjoying wonderful autumn - serene sky, fresh air and autumn foliage! What beautiful gifts nature in Summit County gives to people!
Especially I love the third photo where grasses are swaying in cool breeze. What I feel autumn the most is in wind or breeze.
Have a great week!
Best wishes,
keiko
Each and every image is Beauty!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Waldo!
I know I don't have to pick favorites -- but those aspens! Wow -- and those aspen leaves on the chair? I smile and my heart sings.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how fast the summer goes by at high altitude, isn't it? It seems like just yesterday that your yard was still buried in snow. The aspens are gorgeous, an artistic bridge to the starkness of winter. Gorgeous photos, all of them.
ReplyDeleteI got to see some of your beautiful state first hand. Drove up to Pikes Peak. WOW!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful as always.
I should be back to posting probably on Monday.
Fall has taken hold here, too. It has a different feel from the golds of Colorado. I think there is something special about seasons that have day to day changes - always something new to observe and appreciate - even when it is the slow decay of autumn.
ReplyDeletehello Barb ~
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing your beautiful autumn with us!
I love your new blog header, such a great portrait and the flowers, so lovely!
Your aspens are completely changed! We were at 9000 feet yesterday and the aspens were about 50% gold. Beautiful photos, Barb.
ReplyDeleteYour autumn is pretty far along, Barb and beautiful too. I've seen those quaking aspens when I visited my niece in Colorado. I'm also wondering how I missed this post back on Monday.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, - I especially love the grasses.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this time as long as you can! We'll be skiing again before we know it.
ReplyDeletefall is coming...how beautiful nature is and how great you have captured it!
ReplyDeleteWow...great photos Barb...you already have snow! We are supposed to get some this weekend...I'm not ready for winter! But will be a good reason to make soup!
