LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

I'm Thinking of You - One Good Thing - Random Thoughts

Last night, the temperature dropped to 22 degrees.
Even when skies are blue and the sun is shining, I wear layers both inside and out.
I took a beautiful hike up Illinois Gulch this week.
All along the trail, Nature smiled in shades of yellow.
As I walk, I think.
Sometimes, I think of you.
Yes, I mean YOU - specifically you.
After nearly three years of blogging, I "know" many of you.
Somehow, we are connected.
I hope for your well-being.
I suspect that somewhere in the world
someone I've never actually met is also thinking of me.
I send my hopes for your health and well-being.
I wish for solutions to your problems.
I ask that your sorrows become less.
I celebrate your successes and encourage your dreams.
I believe in you and want only the best for you.
Do I think that positive thoughts have power?
Well, yes - I do.
I'm thinking of YOU.

  1. I have no idea what just happened, but in case my message was delivered and I didn't mean for it to be delivered at that very moment because I wasn't finished...I probably just hit a key accidently...I wanted to say...that YOU are thought of as well...because you are such a good friend, although we have not met in person, I feel like I have been friends with you forever and not just through blogging! THANK YOU! I hope you are well!

If I ever strike it rich, you are tops on my list to visit!

  5. These images are stunning. And the fact that you hike for 7-8 miles sometimes and alone at times is also stunning. And to think you think of me is amazing. I think of you often Barb and wonder if I'll be in good a shape as you are some day. Carol

  12. Hello Barb
I occasionally come by and visit some of my favourite blogs...and your photos need commenting on...the header photo is amazing and draws one in to view your splendid landscapes. I particularly loved the 2 walking tracks - they both look so inviting and open to contemplative walking...just the kind of paths I enjoy...thank you
    Happy days

  14. Your post actually brought tears to my eyes. Today, I took K on a special hike to celebrate her upcoming birthday. I specifically thought of you, and your hike to that hidden lake that you wrote about recently. I also thought about how you sometimes encourage me not to push myself so hard. With your words ringing in my ears, I turned around 200' vertical feet from the peak because my back was hurting too much.

You see - I was thinking specifically of *you* on more than one occasion today. It's amazing, isn't it?

I love your photos and thoughts as always. They leave me feeling peaceful and happy.

  15. I never realized how blogging played an important role in our daily lives. Likewise, i think about you, and others too.

Autumn has arrived, early or not, but I see the color is changing. Your photos are always captivating.

    Be well!

  16. I do think of My People more often than I would care to admit to those who are not of the blogging world.
Your philosophy is so comforting, and the comments you leave are always so welcome.
I want to make those red flower tubes my desktop background! Even Nature's leftovers are thrilling, aren't they?

  19. Could you have picked a nicer set of paths? How do you ever decide which to take?
    Barb, I get it!!
    Thanks!

  20. I think of you too! I feel like we would be great real world friends if we lived closer. There are so many things we share. My name is Barb, I live in the mountains (in Summit County, no less). We both love to take photos and hike and spend time with our grandchildren. If you need further proof, I went for a hike along the river a few nights back and took some pictures of rose hips (I was avoiding cleaning my kitchen).

Stay warm this winter, I'll check in on you!

    xxoo,

  21. Thank you Barb! I do that as well. Thank you for the positive thoughts (and yes I do believe in their power) and as well for validating that I'm not crazy for caring about people I've never actually met! I've never really told anyone I do that.

Your hike was beautiful. After living so long where winters are gray and damp, I always have a bit of trouble realizing how a bright crisp day can be so cold (when we've experienced them visiting in Colorado).

  22. Great thoughts. I think a lot about my blog friends such as you and how they are doing. I've been lucky enough to meet many here in Oklahoma and formed deeper friendships.

Great pictures. I can't resist photos with trails or paths in them.

  23. How very lovely and heart-warming. I do believe that positive thoughts have power, because our thoughts become actions and we are what we do.

I was thinking of you only yesterday! Be well - keep warm! And thank you for these fabulous shots.

  24. Glorious, Barb, just glorious. Your world. Your photos. That path-hike!! And your loving thoughts. Yes. Yes. Yes. It matters a great deal. Thank you.

Maybe this is why I feel so good this morning?

  25. What a lovely post and back at ya. I guess when I think of you the most is when I see a spectacular view and think,"Barb could really capture this."

  26. Thanks so much for this little blessing, BARB. You have already made my day better, not only with your beautiful words, but also with your magnificent photos.

  27. Your world is shades of yellow, warm and soft before turning into deeper colors, Barb. I walk enjoying solitude in search of a little autumn in my corner of the world of still shades of green.

I'm often thinking of you, Barb, too, and actually we (a few of Nara bloggers you know) have talked about you. Were your ears burning? Each and every friend is my treasure. I know someone is having a hard time struggling with each disease, loss, or loneliness. My thoughts and prayers are with them as I have been in someone’s.

Way of thinking is contagious either positive or negative, so when we are positive, our positive thinking would spread to the end of the world as we are connected to one another to make a whole world.
Thank you for the warm thoughts and soothing photography.

Be happy and take care of yourself.
    Yoko

  28. This is a beautiful post and I, for one, am grateful you think of your bloggies as you are walking about. Isn't it interesting how this blog connection goes? I find myself seeing something and my mind goes to a person I've never met, yet know so well. Recently I was telling a friend in CO about your blog and I was so excited to know places she mentioned because you had introduced me to them! Three year -- I think that's about what mine is, too. Congratulations! I smile!

  29. Barb, this is really a sweet post. Thinking about you hiking along is such beautiful--cool--as in chilly--scenery and thinking of us. You are really a special person, you know. I'm glad you're in my life.

  30. Yes, we connect here on the internet. I often think of those who have touched me with their words and concern, wonder when they disappear from the blogs. Are they well? Is there a crisis? I hope they are just busy with life as I often am.
We try across the miles to share our strength.
    Wonderful post, thank you.

  31. What a lovely post, saying in words what many of us think.

Twenty-two degrees? That's pretty chilly for September, although I'm sure that in winter you would love to see twenty-two.

  34. Thank you so much. I think of you too. We are beginning the second week of vacation and I've been away from blogland for this entire time. I had a few minutes for a quick peak at the blogs I read and was greeted with your beautiful wishes. Thanks again. I'll be back from my break in October.

  35. Barb,
Your autumn is just beautiful! Blue sky is high and air is crisp. Leaves are turning autumn colors gradually.
Thank you for thinking of us. How nice it is to think of someone who we haven’t seen yet, but been connected. It made me notice we are not alone and have many friends around us.
And, Barb, I think of you.
Your photos and words brought me many nice, positive thoughts!
    Best wishes,
    keiko

  38. Amazing how these online relationships mean so much. I often think of you - as an inspiration, as a friend. Your blog is so much more than pretty photos, your words have helped me know you. Your visits to my space strengthen the connection. I sit here, enjoying your images and words, with my cat on my lap - thinking of YOU! Good vibes coming your way :-)

  40. Barb,
What a sweet post! Well, firstly the photography is wonderful... the paths all look so inviting & so lovely to see the change in color. You photos always remind me that I need to get up to Colorado one of these days! Thanks for thinking of us out here- your thoughts & wishes for us were very kind... and yes, you know there are many of us out there that think of you, too! (I may need to be visiting this post again on occasion... your positivity is so encouraging!)
Barb, I've got the weekend off! I had to decide between the Ballon Fiesta & a walk in the woods... I am sure you can guess which I have picked!
:) Have a wonderful Sunday, Barb~ you are thought of often, too!
