Wildflowers blanket meadows where snow will soon fall.
The forest offers a last gift before summer's end.
Wildflowers wait patiently for fall.
I am patient, too, as I linger in summer.

beautiful shots of the wildflowers! we're enjoying the wind down of summer here too. looking forward to aspen turning and cooler days-
ReplyDeleteYour mountains in high altitude is exceptionally a late bloomer. While our hills are all dried up (two brush fires already this weekend), we are still languishing the high heat.
ReplyDeleteWaiting patiently to cool down and looking forward to our autumn weather.
That arctic gentian's dots remind me of my poppy seed bagel.
Take care Barb!
God's garden in all it's splendour! I must come back and feast my eyes on it some more when I can grab a minute. Thank you for all the glory.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. First two, I have not seen them before.
ReplyDeleteStill so many colorful wildflowers. Ours slowly disappear as the coolness of fall creeps upon us. Seems like only yesterday the snow went away.
ReplyDeleteA wildflower itself looks a poem in praise of summer in your fabulous images. I'm not good at remembering the name of flowers, especially English names, but gradually catching up.
ReplyDeleteRecent my trip to the highlands of Japan Alps made me realized what weather you have in summer. At Kamikochi, summer is brief, only one month. Enjoy the lingering summer, Barb.

A glorious ode to summer!
ReplyDeleteLoved your photo of the Arctic Gentian, Barb, the flower looked as if it had embroidery on it's delicate petals.
ReplyDeleteYou have the perfect place to patiently linger!
Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour photos made my morning! I will be thinkig of summers lash hurrah as I do my daily chores.
ReplyDeleteHey, your feet even look relaxed!
I can still remember all of that snow from last winter that you had. The photos with your grandkids playing in it. Where does the time go Barb ?It seems like it was just last week!
ReplyDeleteFor now I will just enjoy the beautiful wildflowers too, thanks!
Love Di ♥
Beautiful! I especially like that arctic gentian. We do have some gentian but not that color.
ReplyDeleteOur last day with Michael, his parents return tonight. They are having a great job.
I'm trying to hold on to every single moment of summer!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, as always...
xxoo,
RMW
We got cool temperatures finally! The light is changing, and the sun is lower. Warm days and cool nights. Fall is Tulsa's best season.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Your pictures just made my day.
ReplyDeleteEverything about this was beautiful. Soak up the beauty of the flowers and the sun while you can. Winter will come soon enough.
ReplyDeleteI love the one of the path along the side of the mountain with all the wildflowers on each side. Fantastic. And of course your sneakers that was cool too! Carol
ReplyDeleteYour hiking shoes are like my kayak paddle...in the foreground. Yes, let's hold onto each moment of summer, Barb. It was a long time coming...
ReplyDeleteBarb,
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed seeing all your wildflowers. :)
Summer is going by way too fast for my liking... I'm not quite ready for the change of seasons!
My favorite shot, I think, is of your feet with the mountains in the distance... knowing that you are soaking it all in & truly appreciating it!
That meadow is breathtaking. Your season is short but spectacular and you definitely appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us do also.
Today feels like fall on this side of the Divide. It's downright cold!
ReplyDeleteI, like you, try to linger in summer as long as I can. I love your wildflower photos - it's amazing that they're still blooming! Enjoy.
Love the flowers! It's great they have lasted so long this year. I heard your county had snow on the peaks last night. We only had rain, but no snow when the clouds cleared.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular photos, Barb. Your spring and summer must seem shorter in Colorado due to the extended snowfall and cooler temps. Everything here still looks so fresh and green. Wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your flower pictures, especially the Harebell. Our summers are so long here, I haven't noticed many signs of fall yet.
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb
ReplyDeleteThank you for your warm concern.
Your blog is a great tribute to wild flowers. What an amazing paradise it is! Flowers look smiling happily and enjoying sunshine just before summer ends. How beautifully sunlight goes through fine silk like petals. Flowers in the series of photos are playing prelude to autumn.
Especially I love the last one.
Let’s me be one of your followers. I am sorry for my lateness.
Every time I look at your blog(s) I am blown away by your pictures. Keep em coming!
ReplyDeleteoh so gorgeous! So we both have flowers galore in the high mountains. I think they are often more spent at this time of year than we have now. I love the blossoms, yours and mine.
ReplyDeleteStunning! Reminds me of vast wildflowers on the back of a mountainside I hike to every year in Big Sur. Love how you included your feet in the frame. I see you're prone to quirky socks like I am..
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious flowers! I love the Arctic gentians. What a wonderful place to lie back and just breathe it all in.
ReplyDeleteSummer's last gift is incredibly beautiful. There is nothing more wonderful than those high-country wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteLoved the beauties of nature...
ReplyDeleteThe last shot took my breath away, I could sit there for days gazing away!!
Have a fabulous Sunday Barb:)
Yes, I've notice the sudden change in day length and the noticeable changes in the landscape. Plants are getting ready for the long rest, animals are storing food and fat which means winter is not too far in the future. Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteYour summer is so very short. It seems like the snow just melted. In fact, it's probably still melting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and the last one made me smile! I would so love to visit your part of the country...hopefully one day. I have noticed the winding down of summer here as well...using a blanket on the bed and closing some windows at night...but it makes each day one to savor!
ReplyDeleteSummer was too short this year. It's amazing how quickly the flowers went through their life cycle, from first shoots to seed. They only had about a month in some places, but still managed to complete their job.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers and country-side, as well as your photos, are stunning.
