LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Let's Celebrate!

I've been off-line for awhile doing what I do best:
Playing!
Specifically, playing with Grandchildren.
I've been
taking time to smell the flowers,
trying to see the world through a child's eyes,
embracing wonder wherever I find it.
We celebrated a birthday -
Pop Pop's 67th found us on the slopes.
Being outdoors made us smile.
On November 23,  LIVE and LEARN also had a birthday.
Here is the first photo I posted 3 years ago:
I took it on the trail behind our Breckenridge house.
There was only one "snowflake" footprint.
It seemed magical to me, as though the snow fairy was leaving me a message.
Through the Blog, I've met and forged relationships with people all over the world.
Over 35,000 folks have visited the Blog since that first post.
I'm continually amazed and gratified
by the talented and good-hearted people I encounter.
My world has expanded because of you.
I continue to LIVE and LEARN.
For that, I say "Thank You!"
I greatly appreciate your visits and your comments.

Photos taken at Denver Botanic Garden and Breckenridge Ski Area, November 2011.

Barb, you are so welcome for all I can offer you. Your photos are beautiful. Your grandchildren are precious and they look so happy. I wished I could be there to go skiing with you so beings I can't, would you ski one day for me. You pick the day, let me know what day, and I'll think about you out there. Thanks so much and Happy Birthday to your blog and to Pop Pop. Carol

Great looking grandchildren, and so happy you are playing, which in my view is one of the fundamental arts of life.

What gorgeous , gorgeous photos! I love them all but particularly like how you left the spot of colour in the black and white photos, you really have an excellent eye!

Congratulations too on the blog birthday, isn't blogging a wonderful thing? Through it I have been able to glimpse into your world (which is so different to mine).

I always enjoy my visits to your blog and come away inspired!

Here's to many more blog birthdays!

Happy Blogiversary -- your first picture was wonderful and you keep on getting better, even if it seems like you couldn't have gotten any more perfect.

I love the pictures of the adorable grands -- and there really is nothing like being with them to keep you thinking like a child (and that's a great thing). Lovely post. Happy belated to Poppop too! Great way to celebrate.

Hi Barb
these innocent joyfilled fresh faces are beautiful to see and enjoy.
Your weekend must have been fun.
Thank you for bringing us glimpses of your life and world over the past 3 years.
We are fortunate to be able to share such disparate experiences...but yet while the environments are so diverse and the experiences variable aren't the underlying emotions the same?

I loved your first picture ever, I can see why it intrigued you, it was a taste of what was to come with all your fantastic pictures of all different and interesting subjects. I think you always capture the playfulness and freshness through your lense, thats what happens when you take many photo's you see the difference, between what could just be a nice snap shot and a picture that makes the viewer gasp, smile, even smell the place through the lense.
So Happy Anniversay Barb, I look forward to many more to come.

I'm so glad to know you, Barb. You're a Wise Woman, and I think that you know it, which is a Good Thing.

I have to say that I am taken aback by the photo of you and the kids on the slope with all those buildings behind you. Colorado is different from anything I've ever seen, which admittedly isn't much. Wherever I have seen wilderness adequate for ski slopes, there have been no buildings visible.

Happy Blogaversary. Time flys when you are having fun. I am so glad you started blogging so I get to see your amazing photos. They make my day.
Loved the effect of black and white with just the color of the flower. Wow.
Your Grands are truly grand.

It was almost 3 years ago that Live and Learn became part of my blog world, both of us new at this blogging thing. I feel blessed on a deeper level though, finding a connection through nature with its wildflowers and hawks, sweet grandchildren, feelings, thoughts, activities, shared blogging friends... just the great appreciation of life in general. Your friendship is so valued, one to live with and learn from!

Happy birthday to grampy and your blog!

It looks like you all have been having some serious fun.
I will have to say that grandparents are not what they used to be.

It looks like you had a great holiday.
Seeing you on the slope reminds me of when Jules and I were parent instructors for our sons' elementary school ski program. I can still here them calling "Mrs. Z, I've fallen and I can't get up!" We were exhausted by the end of the day but it was great fun.

Hello, Barb.
How wonderful that it has been three years since your blog started. My heart thanks back to you! I enjoy reading your blog posts and how encouraging those have been to me! I now remember the first time I encountered your blog site and received your comment. That was my very beginning of true blogging, until then blogs have been just for my English classes.

We are lucky to be able to share our joy and happiness through blogs, thanks to the technology.
I am grateful.
I hope you will have a wonderful week!

Wonderful to have reason to celebrate. I'm not sure which of us found the other's blog, but I do know my visits to your blogs and your comments have enriched my life. These virtual friendships have come to mean a lot to me. Thanks for opening up your part of the world. And for knowing that family is what really matters and the blog will wait. ;-)

Happy Birthday to Pop Pop! I can't imagine a better way to celebrate than out on the slopes with happy grandchildren.

It seems that you are very good at seeing the world through a child's eyes. That's part of what I love about your blog.

Keep Celebrating!

Hi, Barb! Happy birthday to your husband and congratulations on your three years of blogging! It was the last summer when I felt fresh, cold air wafting toward me from the cyber space and I got sweet sensation. Since then, you’ve pleased, stimulated, and encouraged me through your posts and comments, which I really appreciate.

Especially young children have pure love of learning and they can learn something from Grandma, isn’t it so nice? You look radiant with your Grands, Barb.
