LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Snow Dance Worked! Our World

Finally, with people all over the World dancing a Snow Dance with me:
Fooled around with color processing here - I like the green
SNOW!
Bob climbing on Burro Trail
We went out to play on touring skis while it was still gusting and snowing.
Sometimes snow pillows dropped on our heads.
Tried for a vintage look here (after all - I AM vintage!)
The foot of new snow was delightfully fluffy.
We have scales on the bottom of the skis.
In new snow, the scales make it easier to climb.
They grab and hold so we don't slide backward.
Yippee! The most fun is gliding downhill. (And if you fall, new snow is nice and soft.)
Vintage processing for Bob
All who did the Snow Dance should now rest until I must call on you again.
Also, if anyone doesn't want the snow they have, send it to us!

Have some fun by visiting others from around the World:

If I get snow...I'm keeping it, Barb! It was 55F here this morning, had coffee on the front porch!

That is more like it!
I have tried vintage, but haven't used it for anything.

You are in your glory gal. Such nice pics. Carol

If I recall correctly, the snow may be soft but it can be a challenge to get back up.
We got quite a bit of rain so I assume that the Sierra received snow but after this there is nothing more in the forecast and we need a lot more.

Wish everyone would do a rain-dance with me, we desperately need anything that brings some moisture. A load of snow would not go astray either to cool down our heatwave.

Absolutely love your new snow and scales on your cross-countries certainly beats herringboning uphill.
Beautiful what you have achieved with the processing, who said old dogs can't learn new tricks.

Your vintage can be compared to the finest wine. Drink to the fullest.

Snow pillows. I love that! Our little snow -- maybe 3" -- went away with last night's thunder/lightning and rain storm and today's 45 degrees. This is Michigan January? Whatever will the summer bring?!

Gorgeous, Barb. Actually, I did the show dance for you here, hoping the snow would come to Colorado, not South Carolina.

Gorgeous, snowy captures, Barb! And I agree with Carol, you are in your glory! Beautiful! Hope you have a great week!

Beautiful. I guess you all really did get some snow. It is dry and warm in the flatlands.

I follow Friko who also posted on Our World. You should check her blog out. She lives in an amazing place.

Good, K and R can stop dancing. I just told them, and they're sound asleep already after dancing and dancing and dancing!!!!!!!

Funny, I call them "snow bombs" when they fall on my head. Your name for them is much more peaceful.

Have fun!

Nothing like new snow ... Enjoy!

Yes - you have snow too! How magical!

Our rains here for the past days hopefully would bring snow up in the mountains. Let's do another snow dance the second week of Feb. when we go to Yosemite.

I love the post processing. There is a special filter you can use called IR (infrared) they are best with snow.

Enjoying your snowy pictures and you enjoying the snow!
Would love to have some snow but I need to be able to get to my Dad, we only need a few inches here and everything comes to a grinding halt!
Thanks for the lungful of cold, clear ozony air.

That looks like so much fun to play in the snow while it's snowing. The snow covered trees are gorgeous!

That is just beautiful and I am so happy for you. If a bit envious.
Hopefully now the bears will crawl back in their dens and nod off.

Glad you got your snow. We had 3 lousy inches then it got up to 50 yesterday and rained. Weird winter for sure!

Hey! You have plenty of new snow -- don't be greedy! Well, maybe not as you did share it with us on blog. . . I am sooooooooooo jealous!

I am still trying to figure out this new style for blogs. . . I wish I could make my header smaller like yours. Did you do that in another editing program?

Lisa Wilson said...

What fun! You definitely don't want to bump into a tree!

Once again...wish I was there!!

Beautiful pictures, Barb. I am NOT going to do a snow dance, I am only too pleased we haven't got any. As soon as it snows properly, we get cut off. We had two winters of three and five weeks respectively without being able to get the car and go to the shops; enough, thanks.

I read an earlier post about your heart meds. Did you actually come off your meds? I would be terrified.

I'm glad you finally got some snow, and I'm loving the photos of it. I'm jealous!

Hi, Barb! I’m happy for you! I like these monochromatic Indian-painting world. Gliding downhill feeling the cold air must be so pleasant. You look like a fish in water, or you’re in your element!

Our winter which has been colder than usual has gotten much colder today. Unfortunately, no snow so far. My snow dance seems to have worked for Tokyo (4 centimeters snow for the first time in 6 years) and for you.

Aha, told you it was coming your way. It's great to see all that fluffy stuff blanketing your world. Have fun, Barb!

wahoo! we got snow too! about 8" last night, but with today's 40F, it seems like 4" of wet heavy stuff. Hoping to get out for a ski at just the 'right' moment tomorrow between not ice and not mush.

lovely images and wonderful to see you are getting to ski.

The snow dances have not been working here. Just freezing rain and rain. I would love to be out in your snowy woods. It looks heavenly.

Ah, all that snow looks so beautiful. We have gotten some in the mountains, but we need more.

You're far from it!
