LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Reasons to Celebrate!

We spent the last week celebrating!
We went down the mountain to attend Jack's First Grade Program about America.
As you can see, he was a STAR!
We learned that Amanda (3rd Grade) won first place
for her Botany Science Fair Project.
She'll go on to compete at the next level.
Amanda, Neve, Hyun-Jung, Caden, Gregg, Bob, Jim, & Jack skiing at Breckenridge
Eleven of us gathered at the Breckenridge house over the weekend for Ben & Amanda's 9th Birthday.
Handsome Ben was our very first Grandchild, born 1 minute before his sister.
Like his Pop Pop & Daddy, he's an avid biker.
He' s working toward his black belt in Tai Kwon Do.
Sweet Amanda loves to read and learn.
She's ripping down the steeps and through the moguls on her skis.
Horseback riding is her passion.

Unfortunately, Ben came down with the flu and by Saturday afternoon, his family had to leave for home to get him lower in altitude. (Today, Amanda woke up sick, too. Twins share everything!) We're definitely not celebrating getting sick! In fact, Grammy & Pop Pop have been disinfecting the house and taking extra vitamins, hoping to avert catching the flu bug.

Happy 9th Birthday, Ben & Amanda!
Your Family loves you!

PS It's snowing today in Breckenridge - another reason to celebrate!

  1. Barb, Something told me you were hanging out with the younger crowd (those grandkids). So sorry they have gotten ill. Yes, clean everything. So far I haven't been sick since November. Knock on wood. Love that first image and the one with Amanda in the wildflowers. Carol

  2. Gorgeous kids. I love the portrait of Ben. Hope they get better quickly. And I'm glad you have snow - we are still having a weird winter with little snow. I would snow dance, but the weather forecast is for rain later this week!!!

  7. What a beautiful family and what fun they were having on the slopes.
Glad the storm moved your way. We got about half an inch, Tahoe less than a foot. Not as much as we need but we'll take what we can get. Maybe another storm next week (probably just in time for our visit to Santa Cruz).

  8. Oh I love this post Barb. Your grandchildren are beautiful and seeing you all on the skies together is awesome!
You did get a laugh out of me. My DIL dropped off my granddaughter Sarah for an overnight on Saturday.
Well my DIL and my son were sick so I followed them around with antibacterial spray and paper towels! I sprayed everything, LOL!!!
    Love Di ♥

  11. A thousand reasons to celebrate! (No wonder you have been aWOL on line).

And I presumed you did your snow dance, too. Snow in the forecast in Yosemite, but I decide not to go and opted instead for lower elevation.

You have a family of great talents!

    Your portrait photography is great!

    Happy Valentine's Day Barb!

  12. Lovely pictures of the children, - what a wonderful time you must have had! Hope they bounce right back from the flu and that you and Bob can avoid it, Barb. I am off to steam my head and take some Night Quill - maybe I'll try the bed tonight. It does hang on, so take lots of vitamins and scrub up well....

  14. So sorry the kids got sick and hope the bug doesn't like grown ups.
That pic of Ben is wonderful. Norman Rockwell would have loved him.
Stay well and enjoy the snow. I am so very envious.

  18. Your grandchildren give many reasons to celebrate. They are beautiful children. I love the Mother's Day photo.

I hope your Valentine's Day is spent doing what you love best. I also hope you don't come down sick. I think this flu bug that is going around is quite nasty.

  23. What a great time (at least until the twins caught the bug), They are just beautiful/handsome kids and your photos are fabulous. (I read once that people catch "bugs" more often when they're under 10, or their children are under 10, or their grandkids are under 10. So spray that Lysol and take that Vitamin C ;>)
