LIfe at High Altitude in Colorado

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Greeting Spring in CO

Denver is having a fabulous spring, with cool nights and warm days.

Blooms are everywhere.

Bees are, too!

On a walk, I met a Snowy Egret searching for lunch.

He posed for his portrait.

I reflected on his grace as he flew away.

Back in Breckenridge, just 90 miles from Denver, I light a fire to warm the Great Room.

Clouds gather - snow is predicted.

No matter where I am, I'm appreciating the beauty of spring!

(I'm composing and will publish this post using my iPad and the Blogsy app.)

  2. Where were you when you saw the egret? wow, he is pretty! Glad your weather is good. I know you want snow in the mountains, so don't feel bad about it. I have been outdoors these last few days working on the garden.
    Spring has sprung!

    1. Hi Sandy, The Egret was in City Park, about 2 miles from my Denver house. I've need seen one there before. Yes, we could definitely use ether snow or rain here in the Mts - it's too dry.

  5. Beautiful shots as always - I really love the moodiness of that last one. I'm enjoying the spring here outside Monument too - we had 8 inches of snow on Sunday, but lots of warm, sunny weather before and since.

  6. You are so right about the beautiful springtime we are having, and your pictures have illustrated it wonderfully.

  7. I just loved the photo of the egret in flight. I too am so appreciating spring. While winter was not a hard one in terms of terms of the weather, it certainly was hard in other ways. You have the best of both worlds: city and mountains showing forth spring beauty.

  9. Great photos. Love the blooms. Your great room certainly looks "mountainly" my Sister down in Colorado Springs also reports a nice spring.

I'm proud that you are the master of your technology!

  18. I loved those Irises Barb. I should get some. They are just beautiful. And by the way, I think it's really neat that you can enjoy spring and still enjoy a fire in the fireplace. I've got the A.C. on already : (

  19. Such a contrast between the beautiful blooms and the snow clad mountains. I think you are very clever to be posting from your IPad, - Charles and I are still struggling with Smart Phones, - I can read my blog there, but think I will stay with the PC until I get a little older and wiser (or does it work that way, I wonder)

  20. Spring and snow, how neat is that. That Egret is quite the ham isn't he. Good to see a bee, they have really been scarce lately.

  21. Barb, you captured beauties both at Denver and at your mountain. I especially like the reflections on the pond with flying egret and the contrast of sunshine and shadow in the shades of blue. You can enjoy your springtime twice a year, what a luxury!

  28. I wish I could have a fireplace but it's too hot here where I live most of the year. Beautiful flowers, love the color and detail. Have a great week!

  29. We are not building a fire today - 87 degrees predicted in April!!!! Not good - too hot too early. Hopefully we will get a surprise snow a couple more times. Great pictures.

  30. Stunning photos! I forget to check this blog, and I will not forget next time! Usually your other one comes up when I click on your name. I loved the previous one about buying the swimsuit! I remember when I first started going to our neighborhood pool for water aerobics a few years ago. I wore an ancient swimsuit until it was too faded and too big and I had to buy a new one. I purchased online, so as not to have to shop in public! Now I always buy online, although my last two are the kind that don't fade, so they will last until I either gain more weight (or lose it . . . less likely!).

Also, thanks for the great advice on the iPad. I will likely be asking for more. :) (advice that is!)

  33. Barb,
It seems now Denver is a perfect dream place for me. Flowers are praising spring. I especially love the last photo, graceful and subtle color combination is so fabulous beyond words.

  34. The bee against the red blossom photo - I don't think I've seen one like it. It's my favorite. And the view from above of your great room makes me want to curl up in front of the fireplace. It's an attractive room; I like all the different patterns.

  35. I love the photo of the bee and the reflection of the egret as he flies away. We've had unusually warm weather. We were hoping for a rainstorm today, but so far, no luck.
