We've been busy enjoying spring - too busy, in fact, to spend much time indoors.
Rubber ducky races provide some excitement.
Nature walks to learn the names of early spring wildflowers are on the agenda.
Excitement mounts when we find a lone Calypso Orchid.
We drool over its exquisite beauty.
Sitting quietly in the swing, we listen to the aspen leaves rustle in the breeze.
Iridescent bubbles make us wide-eyed with wonder.
Fox visits us briefly before continuing on her stroll through the yard.
In the forest behind the house, wild purple Lupine and yellow Senecio already bloom.
We're very busy here at high altitude savoring the last days of spring.

Wherever you are in the World, I hope you can take some time to enjoy the small things.

Yu live in absolute paradise with wonderful, wide-eyed minds to share the beauty with. Your grandchildren, house, surroundings, woods, mountains canyons and rubber ducky races are all a joy to behold.
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful that I can visit your blog and see again the wonders of a world that is lost to me. Thank you.
Hi,Barb!
ReplyDeleteIt is excitement to find new growth in early spring! The yellow, white and blue flowers are adorable. The air must be fresh with their scent in your garden.
Rainy season has come here in Japan. I hiked with my friend yesterday. I was lucky as the weather was fine.
Have a fabulous day with your spring!
Tomoko
So beautiful Barb. It really is Paradise and Spring is amazing in your yard! G&L kept us busy and scheduled the first week at their house and now we are on a side-trip to the Four Corners area -- Canyon de Chelly -- on to Mesa Verde tomorrow. Great to see family again and we love this area (this time of year)!
ReplyDeleteOh, you live in a magical place! It's simply gorgeous. And how lovely to see you and the grandkids enjoying the simple things of life...
ReplyDeleteI like your kind of busy, blowing bubbles and that orchid is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed each picture for a long time, and spent extra time looking into Fox's eyes. What a beautiful face, and how blessed you are to have her visit you without fear. Pile that on top of your other multitudinous blessings, and you are a fortunate woman indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Barb, for the walking coaching.
Lovely photos. I was almost there and I know Colorado so well. I am jealous of your lovely spring. We are well into summer now. My forgetmenots were so lovely this year! That orchid is lovely. They are so rare!
ReplyDeleteBusy, but such a sense of peacefulness as well. You live in a beautiful area and I thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful orchid. Those kiddos must be in heaven and you're in heaven having them with you. Enjoy Spring Barb. It's been a quieter one around here lately with no bad storms or hail. Thank goodness. Carol
ReplyDeleteYou have been a wonderful kind of busy. You have such a talent for showing the beauty and the wonder in you photos.
ReplyDeleteSuper walking in the nature. The fox looks curious.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
That is just what life should be. Children and flowers! Does it get better than that?
ReplyDeleteThat fox looks like it is wearing support hose.
How wonderful to enjoy spring wildflowers, the rustling of aspen leaves and a visiting fox with your grandchildren. Delightful pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou've had such wonderful pics of your grands and the wildflowers this year, Barb. Such a perfect combination of subjects.
ReplyDeleteSome days are just meant to be spent outside....epecially on spring days, when a cute fox and your sweet grandchildren come to visit!
ReplyDeleteBarb, it sounds like a most perfect spring season. And to think that summer is right around the corner! I loved looking at your photographs and grandchildren. Beautiful...
ReplyDeleteP.S. The bubble photo was especially awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat kind of day beats the stew out of Disney World. Those lucky younguns are making lots of wonderful memories. I sure do love your fox.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks quite lovely, Barb. Love the wildflowers at the back, and your grandchildren look so huggable and sweet.
ReplyDeleteYour grandchildren are very fortunate to discover the beauty of the great outdoors with you in this magical setting. I can only imagine how they must enjoy the time spent with you. Think of the treasured memories they will have as they grow older. And, think what a gift your photos that captured these memories will be to them as time goes by.
ReplyDeleteI think I know, Barb, how you’re happy with and proud of her. Young children have amazing ability of memorization in what they love. Recently I presented a book "The Family of Fourteen Go Picnicking2 by Kazuo Iwamura to my 1-year-and-6-month granddaughter. I wish she’ll connect the knowledge from the book with the real world when she walks in nature.
ReplyDeleteIn May, it was too beautiful to stay indoors, but now we are in rainy season. Nonetheless I like to go out hearing the pattering sound on my umbrella. Take your time with your Grands in your glorious but short spring.
Yoko
Such beauty surrounding you Barb. And not just the scenery! I think time with the grandchildren makes it more special!
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
Wonderful pics, great to see kids so curious and engaged with their world. They are so lucky to have a guide like you to help them along.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend time. I love the orchid - what a treasure to find! some of your photographs feel like impressionist paintings. I just went to a van Gogh exhibit - I guess I was looking at them with that lens.
ReplyDeleteOh, these are WONDERFUL!!! The small things definitely have a place in my heart :)
ReplyDeleteLove the orchid! Looks like you are having fun with the grandchildren. Great spring/summer so far!
ReplyDeleteI don't know the names of all the flowers in our local mountains. But I do know the forget-me -nots. So tiny, but so exquisite! I am reminded of the O'keefe quote "to see a flower takes time..."
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having special times w/ the Grands. The NM & CO fires are both breaking records... here's hoping (against all odds) for a rainy summer!
If I knew how to pain- I'd want to paint your Fox. She's so cute & looks so paintable!
This is such a great opportunity for your grandchildren to learn about nature – they will never forget what they have learned with you. You said that wherever we are in the world you hope we can enjoy small things. We have been home only 4 days in the last month but have enjoyed not only small things but large rivers. Last week we were on the Tennessee River and today we walked along the Mississippi here in Memphis. There are so many facets of nature – I enjoy looking at what you see.
ReplyDeletei am so glad that your grandchildren have you! it's a great thing to be taught the wonder of nature, the names of the wildflowers and how special they are. i am sure that their parents do the same, but it's so great that they can spend time with you in the mountains. and thanks, as always, for sharing the beauty. btw, i think that any camera you own will shoot great photos, because you are operating it. that being said, i do love the nx 5 :)
ReplyDeleteYour grandkids must love all that they can see and do at your house. I love the wildflowers, and your lovely visiting fox. I see you found the calypso orchid. Finding one is like discovering a rare treasure.
ReplyDeletesiply adorable! thanks for sharing with us these beauties around u and thanks for the reminder that whne the weather its nice one should just spend as much as possible time outdoor:-)))

ReplyDeleteyour summer is looking wonderful, i feel happy for you and yours!
A wonderful spring, so full of joy and rebirth. Your fox appears to be very tame, are the children? They seem remarkably well-behaved in these pictures.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy what there is left before summer proper.
Outside is always better. Loved the photographs!
ReplyDeleteYour little explorers are adorable and I simply love them! I love fox just as much! As always, a post that makes me smile and fills me with awe for your photo skills.
