Today we woke to a temperature of 38 degrees.
It made me realize that our short summer at high altitude won't last much longer.
There are so many things I still want to do before the snow begins to fall.
I want to:
climb up and over the highest peaks
spend time with people I love
appreciate growth of all kinds
I'd like to witness dreams and...
see them come true!
I hope to savor all that life has to offer.
I'm spending more time outdoors and less on the computer.
I'm feeling happy and well.
I may visit your blogs occasionally, but I won't post as often while I enjoy the rest of summer.
Wherever you are in the world, I send you greetings and smiles.

I knew that was where you were, and I don't blame you at all. Enjoy the summer and the those beautiful children.
ReplyDeleteIt is warm and muggy here, but the weather should be cooler by Wednesday. We got down to 48ยบ one night last week, and I thought that was cool. The summer has turned the corner though. I am seeing purple asters and the beginnings of goldenrod.
You have the right idea. I have been doing the same time. Life is short. Summer is even shorter. There is way too much living to do while the sun shines. I'm trying to get as much natural vitamin D as I can by spending time under our beautiful blue Colorado sky.
ReplyDeleteHappy and well - that is what I want to hear from you.
You stay outdoors in that gorgeous world of yours Barb. It's a feel like temp of 100 here and ozone action so I'm indoors until later in the week. Carol
ReplyDeleteI think you're probably well on the way to accomplishing those goals, but you can't get too many instances of them (can't accomplish them too often?)...you know what I mean. Keep it up! During your short summer you should definitely take advantage of every single day.
ReplyDeleteAnd 38 degrees? Crazy Colorado (and I mean that in the nicest possible way ;>)!!! (We feel chilled right now here in 65 degree coastal weather.)
A really great post Barb. I'm so glad you are getting to appreciate of those beautiful people and nature. I had my grandson Jack all day today and it was great!! Very hot still only getting down to the upper 70's at night. Crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteRight now, 38 sounds refreshing! Love Di ♥
Lovely pst Barb. Have fun outside!
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, thanks also for visiting my waterfalls post. It is wonderful always to see scenery and landscapes from your part of the word, which is really a different world from mine. I cannot relate with you in most aspects of the surroundings, but i know we are just One! I can't imagine you are mostly with snow and frost and with thick clothing most of the time, as we don't wear sweaters at all, haha!
ReplyDeleteHello Barb, - this is a great post and just what I needed to hear. A lovely excuse for browsing a lot and posting just a little while we enjoy the rest of the summer. Your country, your wildflowers and your family are all beautiful, and I think you make a gorgeous and loving Grandma. Enjoy these days....
ReplyDeleteThe flower pictures are beautiful and the ones of the kids are priceless. You are so right to take time to enjoy all the beauty and all the love you can.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to do all you want to do. I'm not spending as much times on the computer as before either.
ReplyDeleteWith all this wonder and beauty around you including family I can understand why you'll be away from the computer. Enjoy it all to the fullest while it lasts.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer and fill it with beauty and good things!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw that temp, I had to recheck the date on your post. Hard to imagine.
ReplyDeleteLoved the picture of you and the grands. Frankly if I had your diversions, I wouldn't blog at all. Hope you don't reach that point. You would be missed.
Sounds like a wonderful plan. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Barb! I've been doing exactly the same...of course, without the lovely mountains in the background! Enjoy the rest of summer!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much beauty to enjoy in the high country, and not nearly enough time to do it. Wow, look at all of the ribbons! Your granddaughter must be a natural horsewoman.
ReplyDeleteOh how we live in contrasting worlds! I hold onto winter like you do summer =) I'll miss seeing your world as you spend time outside, but I couldn't agree more that that's the place to be!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the summer while you can! Winter will be here before we know it. Even though I like to ski, honestly I would be happy if it could be summer forever.
ReplyDeleteHello,Barb.
ReplyDeleteYour family and wild flowers are so lovely. Your grand children are growing, and Barb, you are a beautiful grandmother!
Enjoy the rest of summer!
Tomoko
We really are sisters in spirit! I am doing all of those things too while we still have summer.
ReplyDeletexxoo,

It does seem like summer is slipping away very fast. I applaud your approach to enjoying it to the max rather than being indoors on a computer.
ReplyDeleteYour photography keeps getting better and better. I love the photos in this post.
Ah -- those little ones -- THAT's the way to spend your time! That photo of you with them? The best! And the happy diner is adorable. What a wonderful family -- one must never waste that time. Enjoy it all!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are so beautiful. Anyone can see that you are better off enjoying the glorious world around you over sitting at a computer.
ReplyDeleteYes you must enjoy the outdoors while you can BArb - poignant and beautiful photos. My it is a short summer, it just doesn't seem that long ago that you were farewelling the last of the snow!
ReplyDelete38 degrees!? Soon I remembered you measure temperature in Fahrenheit. (38 degrees C is about 98 degrees F.) Right after rainy season is over, temperatures soared in many parts of Japan topping 35 degrees C here in Nara the other day and the highest record is 38 degrees in Japan. I become envious of your place especially in summer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful family you have, Barb! You look elegant with a shawl and active with a bike helmet. Take your time with your family as well as being outdoors. I look forward to hearing what your summer is like when time comes. Don’t forget to disperse the cold air to my place from time to time.
Yoko
yes, we must enjoy every day, every storm, every hot ray
ReplyDeletethen summer will feel full and as though it was here once the snow flakes fall
lovely images Barb ~
thunder has begun to fill our skies in an outrageous way
Sweet! Everything you've posted here is in some way delicious

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing bits of your beautiful summer! Enjoy your time outside.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love the picture of you and your grands. You are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family!
Darn right! We just are soaking it all in, are we not? Gorgeous photos of the grands.
ReplyDeleteMeant to also say that you and Bob should try out a tandem. You would be in love all over again. :)
ReplyDeleteyou are so right Barb, me too try to spend as much time possible outdoor, collect sunshines, reharge batteries in the nature between mountains, flowers and wildlife! have a great time...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer, my friend! And thanks for sharing the lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Barb ... more time enjoying the summer and less in front of the computer. We'll have enough time in winter to do that.
ReplyDeleteenjoy your family and your summer! both are beautiful :) we'll catch up later-
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post...I hope all your wishes are fulfilled! Your blog is an inspiration to me, I am sitting here thinking now about getting off my laptop and pulling out some yarn and knitting needles and knitting up an afghan for a new baby...even though my physical therapist has told me no hiking due to my knee surgery I can now catch up on my reading, reading that takes me to magical places. I will enjoy wandering through the Coastal Botanical Gardens here in Boothbay and savor all the beauty that is growing there...have a wonderful rest of the summer!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post Barb, using your time wisely, something you'll never regret.
ReplyDeleteI think you may have noticed I haven't been posting as much either... not like I'm spending more time outside -- just haven't felt up to it. Enjoy your warmth Barb! xoxo
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer, Barb. 38 degrees, you say? Brrr...I thought it was cold the other morning at 50. Summer does pass so quickly. Do you ever think to yourself "It's summer" because you want to embed its loveliness in your entire being? I love looking at your grandchildren (and dreaming of, perhaps, my own some day.)
ReplyDeleteThis post makes me happy; your smiling face and zest for life, the joy of family, the gift of children, and the awesomeness of nature - all very special.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, I'm glad to see you and your loved ones are savoring summer, it sure does go fast!
ReplyDeleteAs Anita expressed, this post makes me happy. As usual, your photos are beautiful, your thoughts simple and profound.

ReplyDeleteHiya Barb, so glad you are out enjoying this beautiful season & spending time in the places & with the people you love! I am doing the same~ visiting the family in San Diego & spending time in the wilderness. It's a beautiful life! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBarb,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasant summer you are enjoying! 38 degree F! Here in Nara everyday temperature is soaring up to around 37 degree C! But, high temperature is necessary for the growth of rice.
Your grandchildren are smiling with you. Beautiful, beautiful family! Full of happiness! Your blog made me smile and forget sultry summer for a while.
Thanks a lot for a nice breeze.
keiko
And Greetings to you, Barb. Go for it! Less time on the computer and more time outdoors is a a formula that all of us should follow day by day.
